ANSWER:- DOSE OF CHLOROQUINE IN MALARIA:-

Chloroquine is given to a Patient of MALARIA.

PROPHYLAXIS DOSE :-

Indicated for prophylaxis of malaria in geographic areas where resistance to chloroquine is not present.

• Dose:- 500 mg (300 mg base) weekly on the same day each week, begin 1-2 weeks before travel, during travel, and for 4 weeks after leaving endemic area.

TREATMENT DOSE:-

Indicated for acute attacks of Malaria due to Plasmodium Vivax, Plasmodium Malariae, Plasmodium Ovale, and susceptible strains of Plasmodium Falciparum.

ACUTE ATTACK TREATMENT DOSE:-

• 1 g (600mg base) Per oral, Then

• 500 mg (300 mg base) Per oral after 6-8 hour, Then

• 500 mg (300 mg base) Per oral at 24 hour and 48 hour after initial dose.

TOTAL DOSE OF 2500 mg (1500 mg base) in 3 DAYS.

••• Chloroquine is also given in EXTRAINTESTINAL AMEBIASIS.

DOSE OF CHLOROQUINE IN EXTRAINTESTINAL AMEBIASIS IS AS FOLLOWS:-

• 1 g (600 mg base) Per oral qDay (qDay means everyday) for 2 days, Then

• 500 mg (300 mg base) qDay for 14-21 days.
