Discuss the explosive growth of the internet by identifying its positive feedback loops. Can a positive feedback system be in equilibrium? Why or why not? If yes, describe the various situations that might lead to equilibrium.

The Internet, as a whole, has flourished since it gained mass popularity and use in the early 90s leading into the 2000's. It seems that as the Internet continues to develop with the advent of greater computing power, a positive feedback loop continues to persist; greater capability pushing greater use by current and new adapters. Additionally, new ways of implementing the Internet into everyday life also continues to persist with the use of cloud computing, the Internet of things, etc. It seems that as the capability increases it is almost an expectation for all to move towards adopting the Internet in some form or fashion into all aspects of life, be that business, health, finance, etc. Due to this continual expanse, it would appear that this positive feedback system will only reach equilibrium if a negative feedback system is also adopted to dampen the rate of change. Positive feedback systems, by their nature, continue to change, going away from an equilibrium state and becoming unstable. You can see this in the obsession with social media and the negative impacts it has on society. This constant connectedness to the world that was once looked at as a positive has created an environment of impatience and a desire for instant gratification. The negative feedback system that could be implemented to counter the positive feedback of the Internet could be directed by regulation changes or a stagnation of capability increases. Human values could also direct a change to the positive feedback system if demand is no longer where it currently stands for Internet capability. However, with enhanced capabilities making ground each day it could be a long time before this upward system loses ground.

Response to the post-

I truly agree with your views because i also think that internet has become the integral part of our life. we use internet in almost everything. No day goes by where we are not connected with internet whether it is for normal browsing, downloading, searching location on map, social media, online lectures etc. The increasing demand, capability and scope of internet has lead to positive feedback loop. I think it is just start where internet will have many miracles to provide in future like Artificial intelligence which is on trend due to internet's capability. Internet is used in every area business, healthcare, education, sports, medical etc. The equilibrium will come when negative will be equal as positive but there are more positive sides of internet as compared to negative sides like hacking, social media and cyber staking. This is why i am with you that more and more miracles are happening due to internet's increase use so it is a distant dream that internet will lose its ground.
