What is verbal and non-verbal communication? In your opinion, which one of these two are you best at? Explain why.

The verbal aspect of communication is the use of sounds and words to convey a message to the receiver. It is easier to decode and is easier to transfer over a longer range of consideration. Nonverbal communication on the other hand is an abstract concept with a simple approach that individuals communicate with more than just their words. They make use of body language, expressions, even gesticulation in order to emphasize their communication. It is the least understood and practiced form of communication and most individuals do not even consider it to be an area of application and training. It is different in the sense that it does not make use of a literal message, rather, how it is covered and what body language is utilized while relaying the message and is used for the most immediate vicinity.

I however have worked towards building my sense of understanding of how subconsciously nonverbal communication can seep out when we might be angry, agitated, or even anxious, and it dramatically changes the meaning of the message we are trying to convey. I have emphasized my training in this area, learning from my mentors and the leaders I look up too and actively advocate the undertaking of nonverbal communication and at least the basic level understanding of this concept in order to facilitate communication, networking and to make the appropriate use as a leader.
