Cite evidence to argue that intelligence reform is unnecessary.
Intelligence reform sometime becomes potentially dangerous. The
dangerous aspect of intelligence apparatus is the collection of
surveillance technology. Reform and upgradation in Intelligence
once create a secret system of governance through which all
decisions are beyond the reach of any scrutiny or oversight. It is
logical to say that we cannot fix the three or four biggest
problems of the country with the war on terror. Even after spending
Billions of dollars on surveillance systems all around the world,
there is no end to the threats the world faces. The government now
has a secret system of governance through which its decisions are
beyond the scrutiny of any meaningful scrutiny. Intelligence reform
create a secret system of governance through which public oversight
of the government's actions is barred (for example, the NSA
surveillance program has been in operation for over seven years,
and despite numerous congressional inquiries this program will not
be uncovered by the White House or the NSA itself, much less
challenged by the public, an independent judiciary, Congress or the
press. Insofar as intelligence agencies threaten to intervene in
what we say and write. If we care about freedom and democracy, we
will have to oppose, at the least, government agencies who abuse
their power. Intelligence reform would ensure that law enforcement
cannot follow through on its law enforcement obligations through
the surveillance state. This should make it very difficult for the
intelligence services to violate human rights when surveying its
citizens and foreigners, without oversight and review.
