Answer #1

Sol:

As mentioned in the question, the objective is to minimize cost and x=grams ingredient 1 and Y = grams of ingredient 2.

Total cost of ingredient 1 = 80x and total cost of ingredient 2 = 50Y

Minimize Cost =

80X +50Y

Subject to:

Ingredient 1 in antibiotic 1 is 3 units and ingredient 2 requirement is 1 unit. Total available antibiotic 1 is 6

3X +1Y ≥6

(antibiotic 1 requirement)

Similarly, for antibiotic 2, ingredient 1 is required 1 unit and 1 unit of ingredient 2. The minimum requirement for antibiotic 2 is 4 units.

1X +1Y ≥4

(antibiotic 2 requirement)

Antibiotic 3 minimum requirement is 12 and the ingredient 1 and ingredient 2 requirement is 6 units and 2 units respectively.

6X +2Y ≥12

(antibiotic 3 requirement)

The ingredients value cannot be negative. So we will take it greater than or qual to 0.

X, Y ≥0

(non-negativity conditions)
