There are three steps of aerobic respiration

1. Glycolysis: I glycolysis the glucose is converted into the pyruvate. During this process ATP and NADH molecules are produced. The net production of ATP is 2 molecules.

2. Citric acid cycle: In citric acid cycle the pyruvate is oxidized and the pyrauve is converted into the CO2. In this process the engy is produced in the form of NADh, FADH2 and ATP. The net production of ATP is 2 molecules.

3. Elecctron Trasnport chain: In this process, the energy from NADH and FADH2 is converted into the ATP molecules. The net gain from these molecules is 32 ATP.

Total ATP gain from aerobic respiraton is 36 ATP.

In the anerobic respiratnon the pyruavte is converted into the lactic acid abd ethanol. In this process only 2 molecules of ATP are produced that from the glycolysis only.
