Answer #1

Chylomicrons are involved in fat digestion and absorption in which of the following ways?

Ans. b] Bile salts emulsify lipid from the diet into small droplets called chylomicrons

c] Triglycerides reassembled in enterocytes are packaged in chylomicrons for delivery into the body

[Triglycerides (lipid) are emulsified by bile (bile salts) and hydrolyzed by lipase, resulting into a mixture of fatty acids and monoglycerides. This triglycerides are the primary component of nascent chylomicrons (about 85% composition) along with some cholesterol and its esters.

Triglycerides are broken down in intestine and combines with cholesterol and proteins to form chylomicrons in the ER of enterocytes of the small intestine, and are transported to the bloodstream]

Chylomicrons are the largest lipoproteins which transport fats (mostly in the form of triglycerides) from the intestine to the liver, to skeletal muscle, and to adipose tissue. So, the option a) [triglycerides synthesized in liver] eliminates.

Chylomicrons are formed in endoplasmic reticulum in the enterocytes of the small intestine. So, the option d) [released from pancreas] is eliminated.
