Recommended dietary intake of protein is around 0.8 grams per kg body weight. It also depends on lifestyle of the person. If the person leads active lifestyle, the intake of protein can be increased.
However, if you take excessive high amounts of protein, it can lead to weight gain, kidney damage, heart diseases, Atherosclerosis ( build up plague due to increased protein ), diarrhoea or constipation, dehydration , loss of calcium, sometimes even cancer.
2 gram per body weight on long run can be tolerated but taking more than this amount can have fatal outcomes. However, if you are athlete, you can take upto 3 gram of protein per kg body weight without any problems.
