Please write a full paragraph for each question. 1. If you could adopt a cultural trait from a culture other than your own, what would it be, and why? 2. After reviewing other cultures, is there anything you realized about your own culture that you didn't really see before, or would there be something you would change? Why? 3. Considering the current events that have occurred over the past semester (pandemic black lives matter movement etc.) how do you think our culture will change over the next few years?

Answer 1

(1): I will adopt a culture trait from the Swedish culture. The culture of Sweden is earmarked with values like integrity, honesty, humility, hard work, and need and desire to help others in a systematic and tangible manner. I will adopt this culture because I feel that the cultural norms and values that I have mentioned above will help me become a better human being who is more caring, more sensitive towards the needs of others and is more progressive. These values will help me to become a better person and live a holistic life.

(2): After reviewing other cultures I have realized that my own culture is based only on material progress and advancements. It is not based on any progress of the mind and way of thinking. My culture is obsessed with the material aspects of life and does not pay too much heed to the spiritual aspects of life. This is one aspect that I would like to change about my culture. Being too obsessed and too focused on material aspects will no doubt lead to advancements in science and technology. However advancements in science and technology have proved to be a double edged sword and have led to increases level of pollution, damage to the environment and global warming.

(3): Over the next few years our culture will become more encompassing and more accepting. Right now our culture is very rigid and lacks flexibility to accept different viewpoints. However recent events like the outbreak of Corona pandemic, flaring up of the black lives matter movement etc. will present an opportunity of introspection for our culture and it will develop and become more flexible going forward. It will realize the need to be compassionate towards all human beings and respect all lives. It will realize that all animals are equal and that no animal is more equal than some other animals. Thus focus will be on equality and respect for lives and human rights for all people irrespective of their caste, creed, color, nationality etc.
