From an HR perspective, I feel it is easier to manage the workforce under unionized environment as:
· Ease in negotiation = In case of union, the HR only has to deal with few individuals who are the spokesperson of a union rather than each individual. It becomes easier to negotiate and align on the terms
· Stable workforce = The union helps to provide stable workforce irrespective on the situation. The employees have more job security in such scenario
· Higher productivity = The union is pre aligned on the expected output from the process as a result, HR doesn’t have to get involved for low performance on the shop floor
· Safe environment = The union is very particular about safe work environment and keeps pushing management to bring changes on the shop floor. It acts as an input for the HR who can directly action to avoid any accidents
