Q1)According to me, I would consider any individual above 20 as an adult. but not necessarily, the age and being adult have to be related. Being adult,as per me is being mature,responsible,being able to take decisions etc.Yes, there are certain milestones needed to be accomplished such as earning,taking decisions, being independent etc.

Q2) Accomplishment of intimacy vs isolations is important because if it is not accomplished individual will face issues in relationships,in social settings and will develope certain behavior patterns which are the result from parenting styles. Yes, a person can lead a happy lfe without finding a significant other if that individual has someone to confide in and has secure attachment style. One uncle from neighbourhood, leads a content,happy life without having significant other in life because he has his best friends to confide in and he knows what interests him in his life.
