'In conclusion, scientists believe that the impact of these problems on the health of British young people is severe.

A run-on sentence is a sentence that has two or more clauses which are joined improperly. Run-on sentences come in many different varieties. Here are three of the most common types:

• A comma has been used to join independent clauses instead of a semicolon

• Two main clauses together with no punctuation at all.

• use of more conjunctions than a sentence requires.

A fragment is a group of words that does not express a complete thought. It is not a complete sentence, but it could be a phrase.
