Answer #1

The correct answer is a. VLDL transport triacylglycerols from liver to other tissues. As they lose triacylglycerol, they become smaller, denser and richer in cholesterol and cholesterol esters. Eventually, they become b. LDL which carry cholesterol to tissues.

Description :-

VLDL stands for very low density lipoprotein. They are made in the liver and released to the bloodstream. Its main function is to carry triacylglycerides from the liver to various tissues. Even though it is similar to LDL but it is a major carrier of only triacylglycerides.

LDL stands for low density lipoprotein. It is more denser, smaller and Richa in cholesterol as compared to VLDL. Low density lipoprotein is mainly the carrier of cholesterol in the the blood. It carries the cholesterol from liver to various tissues.

HDL stands for high density lipoprotein. They carry cholesterol and triglycerides from tissues back into the liver. Hence it is the option consisting of HDL are wrong.

Thank you. Please dear student do provide with a thumbs up to the answer.

Which of the following statements is FALSE? Which of the following statements is FALSE? LDL is the main form in which cholesterol is transported to tissues. VLDL transports triacylglycerol synthesized in the liver to peripheral tissues. The cholesterol ester content of HDL is generally less than that of chylomicrons. Some fatty acids become complexed with serum albumin for transport in the blood to peripheral cells. Chylomicrons are lipoproteins that transport dietary fat from intestine to peripheral tissues.

Lipoproteins in Lipid Transport Lipids either enter the body through diet, are released from storage in adipose tissue, or are manufactured in the liver. All lipids are transported in the blood. Because blood is aqueous and lipids are nonpolar, lipids must form associations with other molecules to form lipoproteins that can be transported in blood. Chylomicrons, very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDLs), intermediate-density lipoproteins (IDLs), low-density lipoproteins (LDLs), and high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) are five types of lipoproteins. Chylomicrons exclusively carry lipids from the...
