2. How are BCR and TCR similar? How are they different
Answers :
B cell receptor binds antigens in their native configuration and recognises both conformational and linear epitopes on antigens whereas T cell recptor binds antigens only when they are presented by MHC molecules (peptide-MHC complexes) and recognises only linear epitopes.
In case of BCR antigen recognition is mediated by variable regions of heavy and light chains of membrane immunoglobulin whereas in TCR antigen recognition is mediated by alpha and beta chains.
SIMILARITIES
Both BCR and TCR are membrane bound integral proteins and both are mage up of immunoglobulin domains.
