Answer #1

Human B cells contain vast antibody diversity because of somatic DNA recombination process. Because this process is unique in lymphocytes , and except of the meiosis in the gamets ,this is the only DNA recombination of somatic cells. Before B cells leave the bone marrow to the secondary lymphatic organs, somatic DNA recombination takes place. The sum of all B lymphocytes in an individual producing different antibodies with different specificities and affinities is designated as the antibody repertoire.

The somatic cells also undergoes v(D)J recombination which is a unique mechanisam occurs in developing lymphocytes. It involves somatic recombination and results in the highly diverse repertoire of Immunoglobulins and t cells . The whole process is defining the feature of adaptive immune system.
