Question

Problem 7 A Two particles Mof mu and m, are connected by a light, inextensible string of total of mass length L, which passes through a smooth hole in a smooth horizontal table. The mass m2 is suspended below the table, and the mass m moves in a circular motion on the table with an initial distance Ro from the hole. A gravitational field g acts on this system. The mass mi starts out with speed vo on the table initially at right angles to the string. (a) Find, but do not solve, the equations of motion for mi and moves only m2, if m in a vertical line (b) Assume initial conditions were such that equilibrium nearly held and solve for the equilibrium distance Re, when R-0. Solve the equations of motion for small departures from equilibrium. Describe this motion. Please show work

Two masses M and m are connected by a light, inextensible string that passes over a smooth pulley. The mass m is connected to one end of a Hooke's Law spring of force constant k, the other end of which is anchored to the floor, in such a way that the spring remains vertical. The system is released from rest, with the spring at its natural length, as shown. Show (a) that mass m executes simple harmonic motion (SHM) and...

INVESTIGATION 10 ROTATIONAL MOTION OBJECTIVE To determine the moment of inertia I of a heavy composite disk by plotting measured values of torque versus angular acceleration. THEORY Newton's second law states that for translational motion (motion in a straight line) an unbalanced force on an object results in an acceleration which is proportional to the mass of the object. This means that the heavier...
