A TV commercial claims that a car can speed up from rest to 60mph in 4.4s. If this is true, how many g's is the car's average acceleration?? There are 1,609m in a mile. Please explain thoroughly so I understand.
v = 60 x 1609 / 3600 = 26.82 m/s
v = u + at
26.82 = 0 + a*4.4
a = 6.09 m/s2
a =6.09 / 9.81 = 0.621 g

A car on a straight level road, starts from rest and accelerates to a speed of 1,846 ft/'s in 49 seconds. What is the car's average acceleration in ft/s??
A centrifuge takes 100.0s to spin up from rest to it's final angular speed with constant acceleration. A point is located 10.0cm from the axis of rotation of the centrifuge moves with a speed of 250.0m/s when the centrifuge is at full speed. (a) What is the final angular speed? (b) What is the average angular acceleration of the centrifuge as it spins up? (c) How many revolutions does the centrifuge make as it goes from rest to it's final...
19. A car accelerates from rest and reaches a speed of 30 m/s after traveling 300 m. Determine e car's acceleration. ANS. 1.5 m/s E-3, P-4
Consider two toy cars. Car A starts from rest and speeds up with constant acceleration for a time tA until it reaches a speed of vA and then continues to travel at this speed. At the moment car A reaches its maximum speed, car B, starting at rest from the same point that car A started from, speeds up with constant acceleration aB. a) Make a freehand plot of the speed of each car as a function of time. Label...
A car accelerates from rest on a horizontal surface. The engine provides a torque of τ = 200 Nm on each of the two front wheels. Each of the four wheels on the car weigh m = 15 kg, have radius R = 35.0 cm and can be considered solid, uniform discs. The rest of the car (not the wheels) has a mass of M = 1000 kg. a) What is the acceleration of the car? I am trying to...
a car is at rest. the driver applies the gas petal to speed it up with a rate of 3.0m/s^2. How long does it take to travel a distance of 30m? The professor has the answer at (4.5s) But i think its 10 s with Vf-Vi/a =T can you clarify?

Problem 1) A car starts from rest at x 0 and 0, travelling in a straight line. The car speeds up and then slows down until it comes back to rest at a distance of 0.900 km from where it started. For the first quarter of the distance, its acceleration is +2.25 m/s2, while for the last three quarters of the distance its acceleration is -0.750 m/s2. (a) Find the travel time for the entire trip. (b) Find the maximum...
