In the diagram below the molecules in the boxes are scrambled. The object of this exercise is to unscramble the proper locations of the boxed molecules to reveal an accurate diagram of carbon dioxide and cofactor molecules in association with the complete oxidation of pyruvate.

in the first step Pyruvate is converted into citrate by reacting with Oxaloacetate and acetyl coA by condensation reaction

  1. When pyruvate converts to Acetyl coA by catalysing with pyruvate dehyrogenase in presence of CoASH and TPP,Lipolate and FAD, NAD converts to NADH to form a molecule of CO2 and Acetyl CoA
  2. Later in second step Pyruvate converts to Oxalo acetate by phosphorylation by ATP in presence of Pyruvate carboxylase enzyme along with CO2 molecule.
  3. Condensation

  6. Oxidative decarboxylation
  7. Oxidative decarboxylation
  8. Substrate level phophorylation
