The complementary base-pairing of RNA to RNA is essential because of the RNA form complex structures complementary base pairing helps to stabilize them. The prokaryotes have a single RNA polymerase, which synthesizes all the RNAs. During translation, the presence of the complementary bases on the RNA helps it to bind to the rRNAs, which is essential for translation. Moreover, in prokaryotes, the process of translation starts even before the transcription has completed. The presence of the complementary base pairs helps to avoid the self-pairing and allowing to to only bind to the rRNA to start transplation.
