In patients with Omenn Syndrome which gene (s) is/are usually deficient? Why does this affect both B and T cells?
During the Omenn Syndrome, there is mutation observed in genes in the immune system and the most frequent are due to mutations in RAG1 and RAG2 genes. The genes are responsible for instructing production of proteins which are active in B-cells and T-cells. The lymphocytes have special antigens on their surface that help them recognise foreign invaders and fight against it. Due to the mutation of the RAG1 and RAG2 genes it reduces production of the proteins active in B and T-cells and hence reduces its ability to recognise foreign invaders and fight against the infection.

why does the down syndrome usually carry from female gamete? and why does the probability increase by maternal age? thx~
A woman with Turne´s Syndrome has hemophilia. Both her parents are phenotypically normal. a)How is possible for her to have hemophilia, while her parents both are phenotypically normal? What is her genotype? b) What are her parents genotypes? Which parent did not pass on a sex chromosome, which parent passed on the effective hemophilia gene?
1. Gene B is usually expressed only in skin cells. To learn about the mechanism by which expression of the gene B is regulated, you make clones that contain a GFP reporter and various parts of the upstream and downstream intergenic regions of genomic DNA that normally surround gene B (black lines) as shown in the figure below. The resulting clones were introduced into frog skin cells growing in the lab and levels of GFP expression was monitored by measuring...
Which does not affect gene expression at the post-transcriptional level? Choose one: O A. DNA methylation O B. small interfering RNAs O C. microRNAs O D. nucleotide sequences in the untranslated regions of an mRNA
Explain how a superantigen toxin non-specifically stimulates T cells. Why does non-specific stimulation of T cells make a person sick? Explain the molecular mechanisms by which quorum sensing regulates TSST-1 expression. How do superantigens promote immune evasion? Describe impacts on B cells and T cells Why is toxic shock syndrome associated with high absorbency tampons and menstruation?

ttd ORly when both members of a gene pair are affected tunte pattern is usually 35. Susan is a 16 y/o high school junior who has phenylketonuria (PKU), an autosomal recessive disease. It was discovered through a simple screening that was done shortly after her birth. She must restrict her dietary intake of phenylalanine in order to manage her disease. Because she manifests the disease she knows that... a. she has two mutant genes, one from each of her parents...
