Answer=

A particular mRNA is 300 nucleotides long.If a mutation in the middle of the sequence changed a codon from AAA to UAA ,the reasonable prediction is that

The protein coded by this mRNA would be shorter.

Explaination- A particular mRNA is 300 nucleotides long if when there is no any mutation occur then then codon AAA gives the Lysine amino acid .and a protein which is synthesized after the translation consists of 100 amino acids.

When there is  a mutation in the middle of the sequence changed a codon from AAA to UAA ,then at that site the process of translation is stopped, because the codon UAA is the stop codon it does not represent or code any amino acid therefore protein synthesis stop and we get the protein which have only 49 amino acids.

in this way the protein coded by mutated mRNA is shorter than normal mRNA.

Genetics Worksheet Week 3: Gene Regulation and Epigenetics 1. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is caused by a mutation in a gene that is 2.5 million nucleotides in length and encodes a protein called dystrophin. The dystrophin protein itself is 3684 amino acids in length. Calculate below the approximate size of the mRNA that encodes dystrophin. Approximately what percentage of the gene that encodes dystrophin is intron sequence? The human genome encodes a much greater variety and number of proteins than the...
