Answer #1

Gene activation is a process by which different transcription factors helps in activation of the genes and it further produces a product which helps in various metabolic pathways or in signal transduction. Within each of the cells, only a certain amount of genes are activated and the remaining of the genes remains turned off. The process by which the genes are turned on or off is known as gene expression. The hormone response element is a short DNA sequence which is located within the promoter of a gene and it has the tendency to bind to specific hormone receptor complex and hence it helps in activation as well as regulation of transcription. The gene activation and hormone response element are related concepts because when the hormone response element is activated, it is able to further activate the process of transcription and hence ensure the gene activation.
