Answer:

differences between Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance:

Remote Desktop:

->Remote Desktop Connection is a Windows tool that allows you to access and control a computer from a remote location.

->Remote Desktop Connection works only if the host computer allows remote connections.

->Remote Desktop Connection allows you to take full control of a remote computer (including exclusive access to the Desktop, documents, programs, etc.)

->Remote Desktop allows a user to remotely control a desktop and applications of another computer over a network

->Remote Desktop does not require an invitation. Remote Desktop only requires a username and a password (on the remote machine) to connect.

->Remote Desktop Connections only works when the computer that needs to be connected into has its name or IP address known to the person who’s going to connect to it

->To be able to connect using Remote Desktop Connection, the host computer needs to allow remote connections

->Remote Desktop Connection allows another user to take full control of the remote computer. This includes access to the Desktop, apps, programs, documents etc

->Remote Desktop Connection requires one to know the credential of an administrator or standard user account in the remote computer to which remote connection is enabled

->Remote Desktop Connection allows connection automatically without the need of providing permission for as long as the connecting user knows the name, IP address and the credentials of the user account to which he/she needs to be connected to

->Remote Desktop Connection only shows the computer screen on the screen of the client computer or the person who has initiated the connection

Remote Assistance:

->Remote Assistance works only if the user receiving assistance allows Remote Assistanceconnections to his/her computer

->Remote Assistanceallows you to give partial control to your own computer (shared desktop, mouse and keyboard) in order to get help from a remote friend or technical person.

->Remote Assistance requires an invitation.

->Remote Assistance allows users to ask for help by giving others access to their own computer. Remote Assistance requires an invitation from one user to initiate the remote connection.

-> When using Remote Assistance, the user who sends the invitation needs to manually grant permission for the other user. Therefore, the user who needs assistance should always be logged in on her system to get help through Remote Assistance. Both users see the same desktop in Remote Assistance.

-> Remote Assistance only needs a password from the user in need of help in order for the other user to gain access to the problem computer.

->Remote Assistance would work only if the user has allowed receiving assistance to his/her computer.

->Remote Assistance allows to a user to give only partial control to his/her computer by allowing a shared desktop, keyboard or mouse control in order to get help from a technical person or even from a friend who’s more knowledgeable.

->Remote Assistance only needs an invitation from the user who is in need of help

-> Remote Assistance requires the person in need of help to approve an incoming connection.

->Remote Assistance allows both the person in need of help and the technical person to see the same Desktop.

Pros of Remote Desktop:

->

  • Security – As all of your important data including files and documents will be held in the most secure data centres in the world, there’s practically zero chance of theft or loss. Connection to the remote desktop are protected by state-of-the-art encryption technology, which eliminates the risk of hacking and other data-loss cases common with standard computing and networking.
  • Flexibility – The core purpose of RDS is to allow workers to perform their duties from literally anywhere at any time. The only thing needed is a computer and a secure internet connection, which adds up to the kind of freedom and flexibility that would be otherwise entirely impossible.
  • Lower Costs – Often when using a remote desktop system, it isn’t necessary to invest in multiple copies of the same business software packages as they can be used via a single machine. In addition, the computers used to access the host computer do not necessarily have to be high-performance machines with equally high prices.

->It’s free. Remote Desktop is a built-in Windows service that runs on the Remote Desktop Protocol and therefore is completely free. You don’t have to spend a single dollar on a third-party tool if your needs are limited to in-office remote support or accessing your centralized file storage on-the-go.

->It’s easy to set up. Although Windows Remote Desktop is disabled in the operating system by default, it’s very easy to turn it on. Note, however, that Home editions of Windows don’t include this service, but we’ll get back to that soon.

Remote assistance:

  • You save on time. Remote computer support is available anytime. Service providers offer 24/7 support and repair. You don’t have to unhook your computer and take it to the repair shop where you will have to wait for several days. That is time wasted for your business or your work.
  • Your computer can be fixed even if you are miles away from your IT professional. Distance does not matter for remote access support.
  • It helps get rid of viruses that has infected your computer.
  • You get continued support if the problem recurs.
  • It is cost saving.
  • You pay only for the service you subscribed.
