Explanation: There are different signalling system operating in a cell. Some showed G protein coupled receptors mediated signal transduction. Some ligands such as epidermal growth factors binds to receptor tyrosine kinases and activates different pathways for signal transduction. Some ligands activates Phospholipase C which break down phospholipids and produce IP# and DAG. IP3 helps to release calcium ions from smooth endoplasmic reticulum and induce cell signalling. RAS and MAPKK pathway are activated through receptor tyrosine kinase and therefore they activates cell signalling pathway that regulates cell growth and development. Steroid hormones , being lipophilic, moves through the plasma membrane and pass through nuclear membrane and directly binds to DNA and activates transcription of specific genes. So this statement is false.
