Gametophyte- haploid. Gametophyte consists of the life cycle of plants and algae. It consists of a haploid set of chromosomes with multicellular organisms.
Sporophyte- diploid. It is developed from the zygote with egg and sperms having a haploid set. So after fertilization, it consists of a diploid set of chromosomes.
Antheridium- haploid. It is a male gamete and has a haploid set of chromosomes.
Archegonium- haploid. It is a female gamete and has a single set of chromosomes.

Name the gametophyte structure and the sporophyte structure of both bryophytes and ferns. Also know whether they are haploid or diploid, and which is the more easily recognized (dominant). Be able to tell which gametangia the reproductive structures of moss and ferns are (archegonium or antheridium). Know the terms: rhizoid, rhizome, gemmae cups, prothallus, sorus, sporangia, alternation of generations (explain what it is)
Plants 1 4. The gametophyte generation contains both an archegonium and an antheridium. What is produced by each structure, and what is the function of each structure? What must happen for the life cycle to enter the sporophyte generation?
draw a diagram the parts of alternation of generation; plant stages (gametophyte & sporophyte), diploid, haploid, mitosis, meiosis, spore and gamete release, fertilization

choose the correct answer please Question 14 More than anything else, what distinguishes the two types of plants of a given species during the alternation of generations? a. The sporophyte is part of the diploid phase while the gametophyte is part of the haploid phase of the plant life cycle. b. The gametophyte is much smaller than the sporophyte. c. The sporophyte undergoes sexual reproduction while the gametophyte undergoes asexual reproduction. d. The sporophyte is much smaller than the gametophyte....

Choose the right answer please Question 32 Which statement is most accurate concerning plant evolution? a. Many more recently evolved plants no longer have a sporophyte. b. The gametophyte has become smaller, and the sporophyte has become larger. c. The sporophyte has become larger, but the gametophyte has not changed. d. More ancient plants were mostly diploid sporophytes. e. More recently evolved plants are mostly haploid gametophytes.

From the C-fern illustrations that you collected during lab throughout the semester, select the illustrations that best represent the sequential stages of growth of your C-fern; beginning with the germinated spore and ending with the young sporophyte individual. Arrange the illustrations you selected in a sequence that illustrates GRAPHICALLY (do not write sentences or paragraphs to explain the stages) the growth, development and reproduction of your C-fern. Each illustration of each growth stage will require a concise legend in order...
