Pelvis is the most important structure of the human body. It is made up of combination of diiferent bones. It is help to joint between abdomen and lower limbs. As the human Physiology suggest their are significant difference between the male and female pelvis. Male to support a heavy body build and a stronger muscle structure and female reproductive system which involve giving birth to featus in the future.

pelivs is made up of different parts:-

  •   hip bone — the ilium, ischium, and pubis
  • sacrum- five fused vertebral bones
  • coccyx
  • Acetabulum- help to form hip joint between femur and pelvis and forms a ball and socket joint wich help to rotate in many angle.

During childhood pelivs is made up of different bones and as getting older these bone fuse together to ofrm a define structure. based on male and female pelvic can be differentiated.

List of features Male pelvis female pelvis
pubic arch- it can be define as the angle created by convergence of the inferior rami of the ischium and pubis on either side.

1. An angle of 50-60 degrees look like V- shape

2.have narrow hips so narrow and deep angle found

1. An angle of 70-90 degrees.

2. have wider hips so wider angle to allow birth of the child.

Shape of pelvic inlet- Pelvic inlet can be define as the boundary between abdomen and pelvic cavity.

have taller and narrower due to higher iliac crests and look like heart shape.

-have a rounder pelvic inlet due to broader iliac crests and look like oval, allow larger area for uterus.
Sacrum male have a longer and narrower sacrum

female have wider shorter sacrum and their is less curvature found.

Acetabulum- helps to form a ball and socket hip joint between part of pelvis and femur. larger smaller
coccyx- fused bone at the end of vertebral column. curved inward and unable to move. it is straight and can move.
