MALE PELVIS: 1. Its function is restricted to bipedal locomotion.

2. It is smaller narrower and compact as compared to female pelvis

3. Iliac crests are higher resulting into taller and narrower false pelvis.

4. Male pelvis have smaller and narrower inlet and outlet because of the smaller distance between the two ischii bones.the ischial spines are heavier and paced further apart than females.

5. The sacral bone is straight, long and narrower than females

6. Male pelvis have acute (70 degrees)inferior pubic rami angle resulting into sub pubic angle.

FEMALE PELVIS:1.  It customized according to he requirement o child birth.

2. It is larger,wider and more round than males.

3. Female pelvis are wide apart resulting into larger and oval shaped inlet and outlet.

4. The angle between the pubic rami in females is obtuse(90-100 degrees) making it into an pubic arch form.

5. Sacral bone in females is shorter, wider and more curved posteriorly giving it a less pronounced promontory as compared to the males.

6. In females the characteristic swinging of hips is present in the gait due the change in the angle of femoral head that is because of the wider apart placement of acetabula which faces more medially in case of females.
