A list of 5-7 questions that you would like to ask each person whom you will interview?

This will be a discussion with a few African-Americans (people who are different from you in terms of class, age, disability, culture, or sexuality) about their experiences with the healthcare system. The interview should include their general use of the health care system, types of services used, limitations they may have encountered and their overall satisfaction/dissatisfaction with their health care experience.

The purpose of this assignment is to get different viewpoints of African Americans on what it is to be black and live in America utilizing the healthcare system. Many times you read about African Americans, but very rarely, do you get to ask a 65-year-old man what it’s like being black and to hear about his life experience and his like or dislike of physicians and healthcare.​

Let’s look at some possibilities:

You could interview several individuals and just ask the question what is important to them in healthcare OR you could have preset questions that you’d like to ask. You could interview a 16-year-old male, a mother of 2, an educated and uneducated African American, a retired person, etc…

1) Suppose the person is 16 years you can ask him about vaccinations he has undergone.

2) Suppose if you are asking women of 2 children you can ask her about treatment he has undergone during her pregnancy period.

3) about complications she had met.

4) Insurance claiming and polcies taken by her.

5) Knowledge on healthcare system and claiming of insurance provided by the government
