Answer d. It is used to establish paternal relationship.

Mitochondrial DNA is inherited from the mother by ovum. But sperm loses mtDNA after fertilization. so it can not be used to establish a paternal relationship. But it can be used for maternal, grandmother, grand-grandmother relationships.
