Answer #1

ANSWER : (a)

The diastolic pressure is the blood pressure in blood vessels when heart is at the rest (dilation of atria) and the pressure in the blood vessels (arteries) during ventricular systole is called systolic blood pressure. Both are written as 120/80 mmHg, that is the normal blood pressure in adult human. But in given case of Mr. O the has systolic pressure 100 mmHg and diastolic pressure 75 mmHg.

ANSWER : (b)

The difference of systolic and diastolic pressure is called pulse pressure, that is 25 mmHg in case of Mr.O but mean arterial pressure is the normal blood pressure during a single cardiac cycle. It is calculated as MAP = [(2× diastolic pressure + systolic pressure] divided by 3 hence, in given case it would be about to 80 mmHg.

ANSWER : (c)

We can hear the sound when the cuff pressure becomes equal to arterial blood pressure or lower. Hence, we cannot hear the sound of systolic pressure of Mr. O since, it is lower than cuff pressure.

ANSWER : (d)

We can hear only one sound of systolic blood pressure of Mr. O when cuff pressure becomes 97 mmHg (lower than systolic pressure).
