2.   The average number of heart beats per minute for a random sample of 64 patients was found to be 85 with a standard deviation of 10. Test the hypothesis that the true average number of heart beats is less than 85. Use ά = 0.01.


3. A health spa advertised a weight-reducing program and claimed that the average participant in the program loses more than 5 kg. A random sample of 10 participants has the following weights before and after the program. At the 5% level of significance, test his claim.

4.   Random samples of 250 males and 170 females at a certain barangay were asked whether they favor legalization of abortion in the country of which 45 males and 50 females were in favor of the proposal.
