Please include citations and pictures if possible

I need to find the following for this topic

Topic: Dual Blade Set Wind Turbine

Literature review, types, advantages, disadvantages , concepts and comparison between Dual Blade Set Wind and Conventional Set Wind Turbine.

I am a mechanical engineer power engineer air conditioner.

Thank you so much in advance

Answer #1

Literature Survey The Dual Blade set Wind Turbine is basically a wind turbine having two blades arranged against the wind to generate some power. The operating principle behind the Horizontal axis wind turbine ( blades arranged against the wind horizontally ) HAWT is based on the amount of wind it can harvest. Based on Betz limit theory, the maximum amount of kinetic energy that a turbine can harvest from the wind is only 59.3% where the theory is derived under the assumption of an ideal wind turbine that is frictionless and no rotational component of velocity produced in the wake. The mechanical power Pm that a wind turbine can generate is as seen in Equation: Pm = 1/2 Pa A V2 Cp where Pa is the air density (kg/m3), A is the turbine blade swept area (m2), Cp is the power coefficient, V is the wind speed (m/s). There is another type Vertical axis wind turbine, VAWT where the blades are vertically arranged against the wind. For Dual Blade Set Wind Turbine The basic principles and formulas are same but just a difference in design with conventional system is blades on both the sides. So suddenly we can see from the formula that Pm will change And the basic reason is the area will be twice with comparison to the conventional set wind turbine. This brings in the advantage of more power at the same time and requires less area to generate more power so small setup will still be productive in this case. We must note that it gives more balance to the design also but cannot be used on high speed wind location. Disadvantages are the other side to see the advantage, which first one is its setup cost more , due to more blades requirement And the next one is the losses will also be more as compared to the conventional one due to more load and friction same time. One thing apart from these two are that the conventional type can work in mare speed wind since the chances of accidents due to blade is less there, here in this dual blade set type , the wind speed is restricted, and heavy speed can damage wind turbine blades and can cause major accidents. Conventional type :

4 1. Generator 2. Blade 3. Symmetric body 4. Tailwind device 5. Tower structure

while the Dual blade set wind type is :

For citation i can say that the places having large area and good wind flow speed the conventional type is always go to option, while for less area average wind flow speed , we can go with this dual blade set wind turbine type. The reason behind it is mentioned in Disadvantage part. So you can choose examples accordingly.
