At 25°C

Mass =10.0181 g

Volume = 6.75 mL

Part a

Density = mass/volume

= 10.0181 g / 6.75 mL

= 1.4841 g/mL

Part b

The calculated density is almost same as for chloroform. The unknown liquid is chloroform

Part C

For water, density = 0.9982 g/mL

Volume = mass/density

= 10.0181 g /0.9982 g/mL

= 10.036 mL

Part d

Volume = 10 mL

Mass of toluene = density of toluene x volume

= 0.8669 g/mL x 10 mL

= 8.669 g

Mass of chloroform = density of chloroform x volume

= 1.4832 g/mL x 10 mL

= 14.832 g
