Answer #1

Answer)

First we need to estimate the standard deviation of both the sites

Site A : S1 = 33.5884

Site B : S2 = 31.9376

N1 = N2 = 10

First we need to find the margin of error

Margin of error = t*standard error

Degrees of freedom is = smaller of n1-1, n2-1

Here in this case degrees of freedom is = 9

And confidence level is 90%

From t table, t = 1.833

STANDARD ERROR = √{(S1^2/N1)+(S2^2/N2)}

after substituting the values

Margin of error (MOE) = 26.8657458537

Confidence interval is given by

(Mean difference - MOE, mean difference + MOE)

(−22.365745853, 31.3657458537)

(-22.366, 31.366)

    1. A fire insurance company thought that the mean distance from a home to the nearest fire department in a suburb of Chicago was at least 5.3 miles. It set its fire insurance rates accordingly. Members of the community set out to show that the mean distance was less than 5.3 miles. This, they thought, would convince the insurance company to lower its rates. They randomly indentified 57 homes and measured the distance to the nearest fire department from each....

       My Ask You C-reactive protein (CRP) is a substance that can be measured in the blood. Values increase substantially within & hours of an infection and reach a peak within 24 to 48 hours after. In adults, chronically high values have been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. In a study of apparently healthy children aged 6 to 60 months in Papua New Guinea, CRP was measured in 90 children. The units are milligrams per liter (mg/l). Here...
