List some environmental stressors, and explain how high levels of stress have been linked to environmental factors.
Environmental stressors are all those factors which are present outsiders of the individual or present in the surrounding of the individual which may lead to the individual's distress. Some present environmental stressors are diseases which spread among individuals like the diseases due to corona virus, noise, crowded areas as well as the quality of air. These environmental factors are highly related to stress. When a person sees the news of some diseases getting spread among various individuals he fears that whether it will affect him and his family. This apprehension is very distressing in nature and may lead to anxiety problems. Noise affects our normal functioning as we don't register that high frequency in a healthy way and that makes us feel uncomfortable. This uncomfort is always distressing and may make us show anger outbursts. A very crowded area is also very uncomfortable as it hampers the personal space of an individual and makes him or her feel suffocated to some extent. The area for standing or sitting might be lessened due to the high crowd and due to so many people the amount if carbon dioxide in that particular area may also increase. This is very discomforting and may lead to high distress. Finally, there are various places where the quality of air is very polluted and that makes life in those places pretty tough. This hampers the 'quality of life' of these individuals and is also a big factor leading to high level of stress.
