Question

Each enzyme has a pH at which apeed of the of an enzyme at diff reaction is optimum (occurs best). Graph below represents activity erent pH (x-axis). Y-axis is a color intenaity reflecting activity of enzyme, rreaction (rate or velocity) - What would be the pH at which this enzyme functions best? 25 20 15 10 1 2 3 45 6 79 10 11 O 10 0 14 20 O 11

The rate of an enzyme-catalyzed reaction initially increases with an increase in the substrate concentration, but eventually reaches a maximum value, even though the concentration of substrate continues to increase. Which of the following best explains why? O As substrate concentration increases, the substrates preferentially bind with each other instead of the active site of the enzyme, and no additional catalysis occurs. As substrate concentration increases, the active sites of all the enzyme molecules become occupied with substrate molecules, and...

Urease is an enzyme which 'catalyses the breakdown of urea to ammonia and carbon dioxide. An experiment was carried out into the effect of pH on the activity of urease. 10 cm of pH 3 buffer solution was mixed with 1 cm3of urease solution. This mixture was then added to 10 cm3 of urea solution and the concentration of ammonia in the mixture was measured after 60 minutes. This procedure was repeated using buffer solutions of pH 4, 5, 6,...
