Answer #1

i) Name of stem cell

in male: spermatogonial stem cell

in female: oogonial stem cell.

ii)number of viable gametes from single stem cell :

in male : haploid

in female : haploid

iii)specific structures in which gametes mature in :

male - gametes mature in sperm and in the female it matures in the ova, Zona pellucida

iv)Name of hypothalamic hormone in

Male:The hypothalamus starts to secrete high pulses of gonadotropin-releasing hormone GnRH with the onset of puberty. Other hormones like follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) are also secreted into the male system with response to the secretion of GnRH.The Sertoli cells are stimulated as FSH enters the testes, nourishing the sperm cells to facilitate spermatogenesis. LH also enters the testes thereby stimulating the Leydig cells to be released in testes and blood.

Female: In female,GnRH,FSH,LH are released from anterior pituitary along with estrogens and progesterone.Follical Stimulating Hormone and Lutenizing hormone helps in development of egg cells called ova that develop in follicles.Inhibin is produced by follicle cells that inhibits FSH production.
