By focusing on prevention ,health promotion reduces the costs that individuals, families communities,the state and the nation would spend on medical treatment.
In the clinical setting , health promotion focuses on four areas : Promoting the health of patients,promoting the health of staff,changing the organisation to a health promoting setting, and promoting the health of the community in the catchment area of the hospital.The health professionals in hospitals can also have a lasting impact on influencing the behavior of patients and relatives, who are more responsive to health advice in situations of experienced ill-health.This is of particular importance for two reasons; firstly, the prevalence of chronic diseases .secondly,many hospital treatments today not only prevent premature death but improve the quality of life of patients In order to maintain this quality, the patient's own behavior after discharge and effective support from relatives is important. Health Promotion model can encourage healthy behavior, prevent readmission and maintain quality of life of patients.
Some of the health promotion activities in clinical setting are; For Patients; Introduction of patient charter, patient satisfaction measurement . for Staff : Healthy nutrition, introduction of interdisciplinary team-work, education on lifting techniques to prevent back pain. For the community ; reduction of waste and ecological risks, use of hospital data to assess population health promotion need.
When identifying a theory or model to guide health promotion or disease prevention programs, it is important to consider a range of factors , such as the specific health problem being addressed, the population being served , and the contexts within which the program is being implemented.

Effective health promotion model contribute to improved health outcomes, such as healthier lifestyle, more effective health services, healthier environments and ultimately, decreased morbidity and disability and increased life expectancy, functional independence and quality of life. For individuals , the immediate effect include improved health knowledge , skills and motivation, and changes to health actions and behavior.
