One can lose power in many ways which are described below.
(i) By being less relevant than before owing to loss of competency due to change in technology or due to inability to pick up necessary skills to be in demand.
(ii) Owing to change in organisational structure which puts you in position of disadvantage.
(iii) Owing to physical, psychological or mental disability which compromises your capacity.
(iv) Losing trust of people as a result of involvement in an unethical activity or a controversial event.
One can safeguard against theses event by adopting a habit of lifelong learning and acuiring skills which are needed to be relevant at all times. wn position in an organisation can be strengthened by improving interpersonal skills, inbvesting in relationships and adopting a proactive approach to deal with the changes and mitigating the threats and risks. Safeguard against disability can be ensured by avoiding risky behaviour by changing lifestyle, while keeping away from controversy and observing ethical conduct at all times is always advisable for a reasonable person.
2. Anger management is the key to avoiding many undesirable situations and can be done by daily practice of meditation and similar activities which cool down the temparament, improve the concentration and help to deal with stressful situations. Being humble is good for interpersonal relationships and would surely help in controlling arrogance. By allowing oneself greater exposure to the world, doing philanthropic activities, working few hours a week for charitable organisation, contributing to the cause of needy and downtrodden and spending some time with members of society, are some of the activities which lead to lifetime learning and reckoning, broaden the perspective of a person, relieve stress and make him /her more benevolent, humble and caring for the world rather than centered towards self.
