In an experiment, 29.3 g of ammonia gas, NH3 , is produced when it was predicted that 42.8 g NH3 would form.

Ans:

The yield of a reaction is the amount of product obtained from a reaction. It is basically defined in terms of percent yield, which is the ratio of actual yield ( the amount that has been obtained experimentally) to the theroitical yield ( the amount that could have possibly been obtained and is calculated mathematically).

% yield=(actual yield/theoritical yield) × 100

So from the question:

The theoretical yield = 42.8 g

And the actual yield = 29.3 g
