Putative transformants are the segments of gene that can perform the function of that particular segment that has already been assigned the characterised function and hence can be inferred to perform that function. The research for the putative transformants is still continued to know more details and so that we can use it wisely to do more difficult function.

The examples of putative transformants are

  • 30 putative Gene are found on the vomeronasal organs.
  • 79 putative TATA boxes on plant genomes.

Thus it's very imporimportant to identify putative Gene and it can be very well done by complementation and knock out experiments.

It also helps in genomics evolution. Software tools are also used for identifying the putative transformants.
