Answer #1

1. During aerobic metabolism of glucose, complete oxidation of glucose takes place in the presence of molecular oxygen where glucose is oxidized into CO2 & oxygen is reduced to H2O.

C6H1206 +602 +6CO2 + 6H20+686kcal

So the correct option will be (d).

2. FAD + XH + FADH2 + X

Here FAD is reduced to FADH2. It is a coupled oxidation -reduction reaction i.e autoredox reaction where FAD is reduced to FADH2 & XH2 is oxidized to X. So the correct option will be (d).

3.The initial steps of gycolysis utilizes energy which is called the activation or energy consuming phase. In the first step one ATP is consumed when glucose is converted to Glucose-6-phosphate & another mole of ATP is consumed in the 3rd step where Fructose-6-phosphate is converted to Fructose-1,6-biphosphate.

The end product of glycolysis is a 3 carbon compound, pyruvic acid which is formed from 1 molecule of Glucose via partial oxidation resulting in 2 molecules of pyruvate. Each steps of glycolysis requires specific enzymes which is functional at that step only, the activity of different enzymes results in the formation of the final product.

In glycolysis, carbon is not lost as CO2 because no CO2 is released in any step of reaction. So the correct option is (c).

4. The presence of oxygen is vital, since it regulates the whole process by removing hydrogen from the system. So oxygen acts as the final hydrogen acceptor & terminal electron acceptor in the electron transport chain (ETS). So the correct option is (c).
