Answer #1

In South Africa, forests occupy only 0.1% of the country. In most part of the country, rainfall is limited and thus forests are found in patches. In South Africa, forest biome is restricted to regions with mean annual rainfall of 725mm (summer) and 525mm (winter). Normally forests extend in the country from sea level to 2100m above, but frost seasons limit the forest biome at elevated regions. Thus, lack of uniform rainfall and frost in the elevated regions limit the forest biome in South Africa.
