Answer:

DF = Vi / Vf

( Vi = initial volume) (Vf = final volume)

a) DF = 0.1 / 1.0 = 1 : 10 Dilution. (Vf = 0.1 + 0.9 = 1.0 ml)

0.1 x 10 = 1

1.0 x 10 = 10

therefore, dilution is 1:10.

b) DF = 0.1 / 100.0 = 1 : 1000 Dilution. (Vf = 0.1 + 99.9 = 100.0 ml)

0.1 x 10 = 1

100.0 x 10 = 1000

therefore, dilution is 1:1000.

c) DF = 1 / 2 = 1 : 2 Dilution. (Vf = 1.0 + 1.0 = 2.0 ml)

dilution is 1:2.

d) DF = 1.2 / 12 = 1 : 10 Dilution. (Vf = 1.2 + 10.8 = 12.0 ml)

1.2 x 10 = 12

12 x 10 = 120

therefore, dilution is 1:10.
