Answer #1

Yes the genes are linked. Because the frequency of the recombinants (blue ) is less than 50 percent.

This linkage is incomplete , because the progeny of this cross is not dihybrid test cross ratio..

These genes are linked but distantly located in chromosome . Because they have a chance of separation by crossing over and of going into different gamets and offsprings.

Unit of map distance is CM. Centimorgan , which shows 1 percent crossing over.

..the freq of crossing over is directly proportional to the distance between them in chromosome.

Please help with this genetic question. If possible, show work. Thank you ! Question 29 0/2 pts Two unlinked, epistatic genes regulate production of flower pigments in diploid sweet peas, as shown in the metabolic pathway below. Each gene codes for the production of an enzyme, and each gene has two possible alleles-dominant and recessive. Plants with at least one dominant R allele will produce the blue pigment. Plants with at least one dominant R allele and at least one...

You are doing lab work with a new species of beetle. You isolated lines that breed true for either blue shells and long antenna, or green shells and short antenna. Crossing these lines yields F1 progeny with blue shells and long antenna. Crossing F1 progeny with beetles that have green shells and short antenna yield the following progeny: Blue shell, long antenna 92 Green shell, short antenna 88 Blue shell, short antenna 27 Green shell, long antenna 33 Total 240...

Drosophila genetics hw. Can someone help explain this You are doing a genetics experiment with the fruit fly. In the "P" generation, you cross two true-breeding flies. The female parent is brown and wingless and the male parent is black with normal wings. All of the flies in the F1 generation are brown and have normal wings. Indicate the alleles associated with dominant phenotypes by uppercase letters and alleles associated with recessive phenotypes by lowercase letters. Assume the genes are...

Biol 210: Genetics. Assign. #1 #5) You are studying a gene for body colour in house flies. The wild-type allele (B) has a dark blue phenotype. In population screens you find 6 recessive mutants B' through B$ and establish homozygous strains, all of which have a pale blue phenotype. You cross each mutant strain to itself and to all the other mutant and wild type lines and observe the following results (+ = wild- type phenotype in F1, -= mutant...
