Answer #1

Answer C and D:)

To make the phylogenetic tree, we need to score each species. That can achieve by adding all scores of characteristics for a particular species. For example, in table b, species F has a total score of 8, while species E has total score 13, species D has 14, species C has 10, species B has 10, and species A has 13. Therefore, species F becomes outgroup in the phylogenetic tree. Now we move to lower to higher scores for drawing the phylogenetic tree. Therefore, now we draw species C and B on the same branch. Before drawing B and C, consider which is closer to out-group F. Now draw species A and E on the same branch but E is closer to D. Therefore, D and E will share the same branch while D has drawn near the A.

    1) Suppose that on a small island off the coast of Scotland, 32 percent of the population has blue eyes, which means that these individuals must be homozygous for the blue eye color gene (bb). The only other eye color found on the island is brown, and individuals that are homozygous for the brown eye color gene (BB) or heterozygous (Bb) will have brown eyes because brown is the dominant gene. Assume this population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. If 100...

I included everything here , but i only need help with parts C-F You are working with a hypothetical fly and have found color and wing mutants. Preliminary work indicates that the mutant traits are recessive and the associated genes are not sex-linked, but beyond that you have no information. You first look at 2 genes, each with two alleles: "Borb" for body color and "Wor w" for wing surface. The red body phenotype is dominant to the yellow body...

just need help with part c. can't quite figure it out, thanks. In poultry, the allele B results in black feathers. Its recessive allele, b, produces yellow-splashed feathers. The heterozygous results in blue feathers. The dominant factors O and C are both required f any color at all in the feathers. Homozygous recessive at either locus results in white feathers. In each of the following 3 cases give the genotypes of the parental birds and their offspring, along with an...
