Answer #1

Answer:

AABBCC x aabbcc ----- parents

AaBbCc (purple)--F1

AaBbCc x AaBbCc --- F1xF1

AaxAa= A_(3/4)& aa (1/4)

Bb x Bb = B_(3/4)& bb (1/4)

Cc x Cc = C_(3/4)& cc (1/4)

Purple = A_B_C_ = 3/4*3/4*3/4= 27/64

Red = A_B_cc = 3/4*3/4*1/4=9/64

Orange = A_bbC_ + A_bbcc

A_bbC_ = 3/4*1/4*3/4= 9/64

A_bbcc = 3/4*1/4*1/4= 3/64

Orange= 9/64+3/64= 12/64= 3/16

Yellow = 1- (27/64 + 9/64 + 12/64)= 16/64= 1/4

    I'm having trouble understanding this problem. The most frequent F2 progeny seem to have had crossover to me because the parents are Aa Bb x aa bb but the progeny are Aa bb and aa Bb. I thought parental progeny would have the same genotype as the parents. Can you please explain how the most frequent progeny don't have crossover? Thank you In a dihybrid test cross the genotype of the F1 individual is Aa Bb and the tester genotype...

    1. At least 3 independently assorting loci are known to govern coat color in mice. The genotype C- will allow pigment to be produced by 2 other genes. The cc genotype does not allow pigment production resulting in albino mice. The striped “agouti” hair pattern depends on the genotype A- and the aa genotype is nonagouti. Finally, the color of the pigment may be black (B-) or brown (bb). Five different coat colors may be produced by the action of...

If a woman who is not color blind but whose father was color-blind marries a man who is not color-blind, what is the probability that their first child will be a daughter who is color- blind? a) 0 b) 25% c) 50%- d) 100%- e) cannot tell from the information given 2. In rats, several independently assorting autosomal genes affect coat color. Gene A controls the distribution of yellow pigment in hair, and gene B causes black pigmentation. The two genes interact as follows: A–B– (gray), A–bb (yellow), aaB– (black), and aabb (cream). These genotypes are only expressed in the presence of the dominant allele of a third gene, C; rats with genotype cc are albino. a.    Deduce the genotype of each albino mice, to the extent that is possible, in the...

    For both genes A and B, the dominant, normal alleles are haplosufficient. Enzymes made by gene A change red pigment to purple; enzymes made by gene B change purple pigment to blue, a and b represent loss of function alleles. An individual pure- breeding for normal alleles at both genes is crossed with an individual pure-breeding for mutant alleles at both genes. The F1 are then crossed with each other. What proportion of offspring will be red? O 1 O...

    In sweet peas, two genes (genes A and B) control flower color. The dominant alleles of both genes produce enzymes that function in the biochemical pathway shown to convert colorless precursors to a purple pigment. The recessive alleles do not produce enzyme. Therefore, at least one dominant allele of both gene A and gene B are required for purple flowers. Answer the questions about this biochemical pathway.
