The staphylococcal enterotoxin and toxic shock syndrome toxin are known as superantigens or pyrogenic toxin superantigens (PTSAgs) that can non-specifically stimulate the large population of Tcell to produce cytokines.

Explanation :

Toxic shock syndrome is a staphylococcal infection that is caused by toxins which are produced by the staphylococci. The staphylococcal infection can lead to toxic shock syndrome if antibodies are not produced against the toxin. Toxic shock syndrome can lead to high fever, low blood pressure, diffuse macular erythroderma, orthostatic dizziness, vomiting and diarrhoea and other related disorders.

These toxins are classified as superantigens as it reacts with many more T-cells. The toxin stimulates the production of cytokines that leads to toxic shock. Staphylococcal enterotoxin B is the toxin that is cross-linking between T cell receptors and major histocompatibility complexes that results in the production of T cell, proliferation, and cytokine production by T cells.
