Answer #1

Introns donot encode proteins but they are important part for the gene regulation. They encode functional RNA and after processing form noncoding RNA molecules . It is also used in alternate splicing for coding many proteins.

In humans, there are about 200 different types of cells. Why are your liver cells different from skin cells, or neurons, or muscle cells? During development, each cell accumulates different mutations changing their DNA They produce the same proteins but some of those proteins are denatured in each cell They have different DNA and thus, each cell produces different proteins They produce the same kind of proteins but not all proteins are active in each cell They have the same...

    2. List some familiar adaptations animals have to reduce the effects of temperature extremes on their many vital, enzyme-catalyzed reactions. 3. In general, the rates of chemical reactions double for every 10 degrees (Celsius) increase in temperature. What changes at the molecular level account for slower reaction rates of enzyme- catalyzed reactions at high temperatures? (Hint: enzymes are protein molecules. What happens to protein molecules when they are heated?) Why are enzyme catalyzed reactions also slower at low temperatures? (Hint:...

Which of the following modes of evolution would be considered adaptive evolution? Explain why or why not. a. Genetic drift b. Natural selection In the wild, various sperm and egg cells must navigate a complex environment to complete fertilization. There are mechanisms in place at the molecular level to guard against interspecies fertilization, even between very closely related species. Some of these mechanisms involve lock and key functions of interacting proteins. These molecules most likely regulate which type of reproductive...

Sensation &Perception- Chapter 2 Human beings do not have the most sensitive or acute sensory systems in the animal world. Some bats can hear frequencies that exceed 100,000 Hertz, dolphins receive auditory messages from great distances, and cats can probably localize sounds better than we do because they can rotate their ears. Rats see better at night than we can, eagles have more acute distance vision, and horses have a wider visual field. Rabbits have more taste buds than we...
