Answer:- Water soluble hormones----) 1.Activate second messenger system.

Reason--- water soluble hormone after releasing by endocrine glands reached target cell by travelling through bloodstream and they cannot passed the lipid bilayer of plasma membrane by the process of diffusion so they bind receptors on target cell membrane and activate second messenger system.

2. Bind receptors on target cell membrane.

Reason:- water soluble hormone cannot enter into the cell by diffusion so they bind to receptor on target cell membrane.

3.Peptide hormone

Reason:- Peptide hormone is water soluble hormone.

Lipid soluble hormone:------) 1.steroid hormone.

Reason:- Steoroid hormone are very important lipid soluble hormone. Testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, aldosterone, cortisol etc are important lipid soluble hormone and these are example of steroid hormone.

2. Hormone enters target cell and binds to receptor inside cell.

Reason-- Lipid soluble hormone operate their action by reaching target cell through diffusion via plasma membrane and bind to receptor protein.

3. Cell response requires new gene transcription.

Reason:- lipid soluble hormone can directly enter into cell by diffusion and can bind to DNA to regulate gene transcription mechanism.

4. Cell response occurs within minutes.

Reason :- Lipid soluble hormone enter into cell by diffusion and bind to receptor protein inside cell so cell response occurs within minutes.
